The 2020 SGR race from Byrock Northwest route. This was a quicker race with Allan Brown winning with the velocity of 1413 mpm. Allan bred and raced three birds for Anpario a company that supplies racing pigeon products based in the UK.
The 2020 SGR race prizes were filled in one hour and two minutes. With only two minutes adjusted time between first and second P & P. Weynton. This was the first year that the prize for the best placed Regional or Interstate pigeon was awarded. The winner of the Regional or Interstate owner was Greg Agius from Coffs Harbour whose trainer was his brother Anthony Agius Oatley Club.
Anpario created a media campaign presenting photographs of their three SGR entries from week old squeakers to various stages of their growth and training. Anpario conducted an international naming competition for their three entries with the winning birds name coming from the United Kingdom which is “Lady Oregon”.
Anpario product manager Kylie was quite confident that they would win the SGR race being at the loft when clocking in. Anpario utilised their victory to promote their racing pigeon products and company when presenting video of their achievement at the New York stock exchange. Promotion of the SGR win was utilised globally.
2019 Sydney Gold Ring Race Booligal Summary
This is the inaugural Sydney Gold Ring race. The race was developed by Stephen Shears and Gary Young to provide a prestigious race in Sydney that provides good prizemoney and encourages fliers from all around Australia to participate.
A championship ring was developed as the main prize for the race. Like the Superbowl rings this prestigious trophy to win could be worn or placed in the trophy cabinet. The ring has been valued by the jeweller at $3000.00.
The 2019 SGR race from Booligal West route proved to be the toughest race of the race schedule with Pedavoli Bros winning with the velocity of 1173 mpm. Vince and Carlo bird was placed 2nd in the federation a good twelve minutes in front of the next SGR bird of S & S. Shears.
This race was so tough only the first thirteen placings were filled on the day. The 30th prize was timed in at 10.32 am Sunday by K & R. Kirley.
2021 Sydney Gold Ring Summary
The 2021 SGR race was cancelled due to the race season stopping after five weeks due to the Covid 19 pandemic.
This was the first year all five hundred SGR rings were sold out. All rings were reallocated or refunded to those participating.
2022 Sydney Gold Ring Race Ballina Summary
The 2022 SGR race was held from Ballina on the North coast route. Another tough race with 23 of the 30 placings filled on the day. An outstanding performance from Vescos & Marshall to win first and second in this race.
This was a complex win with the winning owner being R. McLachlan who won a single ring for coming 30th in the 2020 SGR race. R. McLachlan not flying the North route passed his prize ring to K. Marshall to breed the squeaker which was to be raced by Vescos & Marshall.
The Regional or Interstate winner for the 2022 SGR race was Allen Limeburner from Newcastle. Allen organised Sid Gard from Maroubra Club to train his birds. Which came 5th in the SGR race overall.
The last 7 placings in the SGR race were filled the next morning. With the 30th place in the SGR race clocked at 7.05 am the Sunday morning by A. Zammit.
2023 Sydney Gold Ring Race Bairnsdale Summary
This year has provided the fastest Sydney Gold Ring race so far. With birds needing to fly 1608 mpm to 1687 mpm to get a prize. It only took 15.36 minutes to close out the 31 prizes in the race. The winning owners are B. Harrison and J. Cooper trained in the North Sydney club.
The regional or interstate winner was Arthur Arnold of Koongal QLD. Coming 4th in the race with R. Marshall as trainer. Notably Allan Limeburner last years regional owner came 5th for the second year in a row. Trained by S. Gard.
